Dr Ann Carrington has practiced, taught, and researched in the areas of violence and trauma, and social work theory and practice for over 20 years. She provides therapeutic counselling for PTSD and Complex Trauma clients as well as training for practitioners and professional supervision.
Dr Ann has predominantly focused on Violence Against Women, particularly in the areas of domestic and sexual violence and survivors of childhood abuse. However, trauma can be experienced in many ways by different people. Statistics show that 1 in 3 people have experienced trauma of some kind as a child or an adult.

Dr Ann’s practice is underpinned by a trauma informed approach which is guided by the following principles: Safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, and empowerment.

Dr Ann Carrington has been a respected Social Work practitioner, academic and researcher for over 20 years. She embodies a caring and supportive approach to education, research and her therapeutic practice.
Therapeutic approach
Dr Ann’s approach to working with trauma, including PSTD and Complex Trauma is guided by Integrated Spiritual Theory, that she developed. This approach allows for the inclusion of all elements of the self in the therapeutic space – mind, body and soul. Given how deeply trauma impacts each of these elements it is important to include such an approach when working with trauma.
