Empowering Healing and Transformation: A Holistic Approach to Professional Development in the Helping Professions
In a world where social challenges like domestic violence, spiritual disconnect, and trauma are prevalent, there is a critical need for professionals in the helping fields to be equipped with comprehensive, innovative, and empathetic strategies. This series of training programs is designed to address these complex issues through three distinct yet interconnected modules: "Vortex of Violence," "Integrated Spiritual Practice Model," and "Spirituality and Trauma Work - Healing Mind, Body, and Soul."
Each program offers a unique perspective and set of tools, ranging from understanding the dynamics of domestic violence to integrating spiritual practices in trauma healing. The "Vortex of Violence" focuses on enhancing therapeutic practices for women who have experienced domestic violence, while the "Integrated Spiritual Practice Model" provides a framework for incorporating both spiritual and physical modalities in client work. Lastly, "Spirituality and Trauma Work" delves into the crucial role of spirituality in healing from trauma. Together, these training programs offer a holistic approach to professional development, empowering practitioners such as counsellors, psychologists, and social workers to foster healing and transformation in their clients' lives.
Vortex of Violence
This training introduces the conceptual practice tool of ‘The Vortex of Violence’ and one suggested practice model for utilising the Vortex of Violence in practice with those who have experienced domestic violence. The practice tool and model are an expansion of ‘The Cycle of Violence’ that shifts the focus from explanation of the dynamics of abusive relationships to the exploration of the lived experience of women and the development of a personal/therapeutic template for healing and reclaiming of their lives.
In this one day training we will introduce the tool and model generally before exploring in depth each aspect of the model and how it can be used to guide one’s therapeutic practice with survivors or domestic violence using elements of their own current practice frameworks. Links to best practice and the three phrase model of trauma practice are also explored.

Who is this training for?
This training is suitable for all people in the helping professions e.g. counsellors, psychologist and social workers.
This training can be particularly helpful for those working directly and therapeutically with victim-survivors of domestic violence. However, given the prevalence of domestic violence it is acknowledged that most in the helping professional will work with victim-survivors of domestic violence making this training relevant to all in the helping professions.

Integrated Spiritual Practice Model
This training introduces Integrated Spiritual Theory before exploring in depth the Integrated Spiritual Practice Model (ISPM) that stems from it. The ISPM provides a structure and process for integrating and working from both spiritual and physical modalities, theories, and practice with clients.
This 3-day training will cover the theoretical structure of the model, principles and application approach. Throughout the training, participants will apply the model to self to identify their practice framework as guided by the ISPM, preparing them for adopting this model in their daily practice with clients.
Training dates to be announced later in the year.

Spirituality and Trauma work – healing mind, body, and soul
This two-day training explores different ways of integrating spirituality into your trauma work with clients. It examines the often, intrinsic links between spirituality and trauma. First as trauma experienced within spiritual or religious environments or when spirituality or religion are used abusively and form part of the traumatic experience. Secondly, as an integral healing resources for many in their trauma recovery and healing journey.
Further, it examines where within existing theories and approaches we can already find aspects of spiritual approaches. It then explores how to use these aspects to open the space for a greater and more authentic inclusion of spiritual practices. Finally, ISPM is explored as a model for the conscious integration of both spiritual and physical approaches within trauma work.
