Professional Supervision
A Safe Space for Critical Reflection and Professional Development
Be Conscious provides individual and group professional supervision to Social Workers and others in the helping professions.
Professional supervision is an essential aspect of ethical practice. It provides the opportunity to engage in critical reflection of one’s practice to support continued development. Dr Ann’s approach to professional supervision is informed by the ISPM and within that critical, feminist and conscious spiritual theories, are those that influence her practice most in this context.
Professional supervision is integral to the continued development of skills, and maintaining and supporting best practice. It also helps to prevent or manage burn out, compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma.

“The idea of reflexivity is important in our approach to critical reflection, since it adds a dimension to the understanding of agency, or personal ability to act upon or influence a situation. Reflexivity can simply be defined as an ability to recognize our own influence – and the influence of our social and cultural contexts….”
